After Action Reflections #1
Wow. What a ride.
It took me a bit to get comfortable with the flow of the Mythic GME and get used to using an oracle, but once I got in the groove I was firmly hooked. I lost track of time! I lost an hour just rolling dice.
Jessamine nearly died, which would have been upsetting because I'm really interested to see how her story plays out, but she scraped by. Fitzhugh is probably my favorite character right now, just because he's got the biggest hook as far as plot goes right now, but we'll see how that changes over time.
My biggest takeaway is that Starbucks absolutely does not have big enough tables for what I'm trying to do. Luckily my favorite local coffee shop does so I guess I'll just have to play there.
I did a lot of my prep for this first session using the tools in the Cairn 2e Warden's Guide, and I'll definitely be referencing it again. It worked very well for the kind of region I wanted to begin in. I'm also planning on taking a peek at the GM tools in Worlds Without Number for future areas, should this campaign lead to other places in the future.
I wasn't expecting to spend as much time in the Ancient Forest as I did. It was initially meant to be an obstacle, but not a deadly one. I'm really enjoying how alive it became. And how dangerous.
Trust the oracle to spark new ideas, that's the lesson here.
