Role Solo with Jay Orlando

Holiday Update and 2025 Blog Plans

This holiday season has been busy and exhausting, but in all the best ways. My lovely spouse got me Mork Borg and Pirate Borg (along with some great bourbon) for Christmas, along with some of the Mork Borg supplements. This has me thinking about what I'd like to solo in the future.

My OSE game is still ongoing, and I have Table Fables and the Sandbox Generator on my wishlist as far as materials I'd like to use to flesh out my game should my little party survive past the region they're currently exploring. I have a vague sense that I might work The Stygian Library into the campaign. I've had it for a few years now, and it seems solo-able.

As far as other games I'd like to solo in the coming year, I'd really love to get some sessions of Mork Borg in, thought notably I'll probably use Mythic GME instead of Solitary Defilement (we'll see, though, I do own Solitary Defilement). Pirate Borg as well, especially if my plans to run it for my group don't work out (we're in the middle of a DCC campaign, but I have hopes for a oneshot). I'm looking forward to the expansions Limithron plans to release next fall, they look awesome!

I want to do a longer term sci-fi game as well, either in Stars Without Number or Traveller. I own SWN, and I'm interested in Traveller, but don't yet own an edition. There's a few games I don't own that I'd like to solo. Top of the list is Deadlands for SWADE, but it's been out of print for months now and I don't really do pdfs. I prefer to play without screens in front of me.

Longer term, post 2025 goals: Pendragon and RuneQuest are both games that fascinate me, as does Mythras, but I don't think I'm ready to dive into those just yet. I don't want to overload my list for the year.

I'm also excited for the Caverns of Thracia crowd funding to ship, as I threw $200 at that and love DCC, though that will probably be for my non-solo, group play.

I'm hoping to jump back into my OSE game in the next few weeks - so stay tuned! I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season! Thanks for reading, and if you have any feedback feel free to shoot me a message at jdsuperhero@hotmail.com or on BlueSky @jayorlando.bsky.social.
