Solo Adventures in Mork Borg and Traveller
It has been a hot minute, but I'm mostly unpacked now and my new game room is looking more or less assembled. I had to put gaming on the backburner for a while as we acquired a small, 4 week old abandoned kitten back in June and he was quarantined in the gaming room for a while. He's now an absolute menace and his name is Bruce Wayne. He's fully integrated with our other cats, so I mostly have my solo space back!
I've spent some time playing Mork Borg solo, using Solitary Defilement and some solo Mork Borg adventures. Very casual beer and pretzels style. I haven't actually managed to survive one of the adventures yet. It's a bit like an analogue roguelike. I roll a few characters and one-by-one they die trying to escape a procedural dungeon. A very fun way to spend an afternoon, stress free while maintaining tension. 8/10 experience.
Now that I've properly settled into homeowner life and winter approaches (meaning less yard work and more at-home time) I've acquired a number of Mongoose Traveller 2e books for solo play. I've rolled up a number of characters (what a fun character creation system!) and I'm preparing to solo a campaign.
Some notes: I will not be playing in the official Traveller setting. Rather, I'm using a myriad of tools from Stars Without Number and Ironsworn: Starforged to generate my universe. It's going to be a human-centered campaign. I'll go into more detail in a dedicated post. I'm excited to get into it! I just hope I can keep the kitten off the game table - Bruce loves dice.
